Sissinghurst (VA) Church of England Primary School

About The School

Please read a welcome letter from our Chair of Governors and also a letter from the Diocese.

Please read our latest SIAMS inspection report here.

You can also view our latest Ofsted reports here.

We are a friendly and popular school with a caring and sharing attitude as part of our Christian ethos. We have strong links with our local Church and Community. Our supportive Governing Body and active friends/parents association play a key role in our school.

Situated in the beautiful countryside village of Sissinghurst and the nearby market town of Cranbrook, Sissinghurst Primary School is a thriving community hub of learning and creativity. The school itself dates back to 1840, but moved to a new purpose-built school site in 2011.

We are truly proud of our enriching learning environment, high-quality teaching and broad curriculum which, together with support and engagement from parents, is providing our children with an excellent start to their education. We were most recently rated as “Good” (with outstanding features) by Ofsted and “Outstanding” at our most recent SIAMS inspection.

Our school is blessed with a very modern, eco-friendly building and extensive grounds, contemporary facilities and excellent opportunities for outdoor learning, along with a close-knit team of experienced and competent teachers, and a supportive community of parents. We also enjoy a large hall; science/food technology room; two innovative ‘library spaces’; a large kitchen so food can be cooked on site; a huge field with an all-weather running track, outdoor exercise equipment and surface games area; as well as a dedicated wildlife area for Forest Schools alongside our Farm School spaces, which help our children learn to care for animals and work with the land.  We teach mixed year-group classes in KS2, and provide the very best support we can for children with additional needs. The school has an independent Nursery, The Learning Tree, on site, and is greatly enhanced by the work of our active Parents Association (“Friends of Sissinghurst School”). The school offers a wide range of co-curricular clubs, and our popular wraparound care offer is run by two of our experienced Teaching Assistants.

Our school website is bursting with information and images, and features a virtual tour that we hope you will enjoy. Please do take a look here.

Sissinghurst Primary works collaboratively with a number of other local schools in the Weald, including primary and secondary schools, for staff training and events.

Our school is committed to the safeguarding and well being of all pupils. All applicants will be subject to safer recruitment procedures including a DBS check.
