Advert

Owing to the appointment of our present Headteacher to a larger school, 115 enthusiastic children and everyone else connected with this small community primary school are seeking to welcome an inspiring, creative and strategic leader.

Bethersden is an attractive village in rural Kent situated midway between Tenterden and the rapidly-expanding town of Ashford. In 2011 the school produced excellent KS2 results and the key leadership challenge is to maintain the school’s upward momentum.

The school holds a much-valued place in the village community and it has a healthy social mix. Many children join the school after attending the separate on-site playschool provision. The staff team are energetic and dedicated to maximising the potential of each child and in the process aim to give them a respect for others and a real passion for learning.

A recent review conducted by the local authority as preparation for our impending Ofsted inspection (our last Ofsted inspection was in June 2009) concluded that “Bethersden Primary School is a happy and purposeful place where the children feel safe and where they are supported in their learning.” The successful candidate will need to build on this and be prepared to take a ‘hands-on’ approach to innovation.

Appointment from September 2012 or January 2013.

Information about the school

We are a small, friendly, village primary school with 118 children taught in 5 classes. Our rural location just off the A28 between Ashford and Tenterden means we serve families from the village and the wider area. We have received a Good grading in our most recent Ofsted inspection (June 2023).

Our large site has extensive grounds, which includes a gardening area and large playing field.

We have a friendly, dedicated staff who work seamlessly together as a team, ensuring our children excel through a focus on quality first teaching and pastoral support.
