St. John’s  Primary School has an exciting position available as a qualified Play, Drama or Art Therapist to join our wellbeing team.

You will be working one day a week, term time only on an SLA basis (thus you will need to have your own insurance and supervision in place, independent of the school).

We are a diverse primary school based in Canterbury, who believe that in order for a child to achieve academically they must also have their social and emotional needs met.

The role will be a mixture of 1-1 sessions and small group work over the school year depending on the need.

The successful applicant will have a passion and solid experience working with vulnerable children and young people who may have complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) or other special educational needs.

Information about the school

In 2018, Ofsted graded St John's as a good school with an outstanding early years provision.

The school, based in the heart of Canterbury, is a larger than average primary school, with two classes in each of Years 1 to 6. The school has provision for Early Years Foundation Stage children, including two year olds, with a nursery and two reception classes. In addition to our teaching team, we have a supportive pastoral team consisting of a Head of Inclusion and Welfare, SENDCo, EAL Specialist and two Family Liaison Officers. The school is a Church of England voluntary controlled school.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Our Child Protection Policy can be found in the Policies section of our website: https://www.stjohns-canterbury.kent.sch.uk/policies.

Please note that unfortunately we are not in a position to contact unsuccessful applicants. Previously unsuccessful applicants need not apply.
