We are looking to recruit a lively and enthusiastic assistant for our Breakfast club.

We are in the process of establishing permanent provision at our school, so this is a great opportunity to be part of this process and build your team to meet the needs of our children and families.

Pay Range: KR 3 pro rata term time only, 5 hrs per week  Monday - Friday 7.50-8.50am. With a possibility of extra hours in our After School Club.

Qualifications: An Early Years/ child care qualification or equivalent would be an advantage, as would a knowledge of the care and play standards for children age 4-11 years.

Essential Requirements: 

  • Passionate and enthusiastic about working with children
  • Knows how to create a fun and creative working environment for children
  • Able to interact well with both children and parents.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and under direction.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Has a valid Paediatric First Aid/Food Hygiene qualification, or is willing to undertake qualification

Responsibilities and Duties

Main duties include:

  • Preparing and delivering quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment.
  • Providing comprehensive care for the children
  • Providing refreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health and safety standards are met.
  • Administering first aid when necessary.
  • Setting up the play space including moving furniture and play equipment.
  • Consulting with children and involving them in planning activities.
  • Providing support to other staff. 
  • Developing and maintaining good communication with all members of the club, with school staff and parents.
  • Undertaking appropriate and relevant training.
  • Monitoring and maintaining a healthy, safe and secure working environment.
  • Working within the framework of the club’s policies and procedures, and the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Lydden Primary School is a small rural village school catering for approximately 80 children between the ages of 4-11. Children learn in our four classes.
