Garlinge Primary School and Nursery currently has a vacancy for an enthusiastic and dedicated KS1/2 teacher. This is an exciting opportunity to join our school community and we welcome applications from both experienced teachers and those who are newly qualified and looking for their first post in the teaching profession.

Initially, the successful candidate will be teaching a Year 3 class for three days per week and providing cover for other classes, as well as taking their own PPA time in the other 2 days. The cover could be anywhere from Years 1 to 6. You will be working alongside the Year 3 team and the current class teacher, who is now also working as an additional SENDCo within the school.

This is a temporary position in the first instance until the end of this academic year, however, dependent upon the intake for 2022/23 this position may become available on a permanent basis from September. 

We require a commitment to deliver an outstanding level of teaching and learning aimed at raising standards, meeting the children's social needs and providing a rich and enjoyable curriculum.

Our children are fantastic and in order for them to achieve they need challenge, high expectations and engaging teaching.

A formal interview will take place on Tuesday 22nd February with a panel comprising of members of the Senior Leadership Team. You will also be expected to teach a 25 minute English task with a focus of your choice to a Year 3 class. The lesson will be observed by a member of our Leadership Team.

Information about the school

Garlinge Primary School and Nursery continues to be a ‘Good’ school with an ‘Outstanding’ judgement in Personal Development, as recognised in our latest Ofsted inspection (November 2023). The inspection found that, ‘pupils behave and concentrate very well in this warm and inclusive school’ and that, ‘the school carefully considers staff workload and well-being.’

We are a large four form entry school to the west of Margate with approximately 775 pupils. We aim to provide a caring, exciting and inclusive learning environment where every child and family really matters with a focus on raising standards alongside the development of the whole child. The school’s values are Perseverance, Aspiration, Respect and Teamwork and all children are familiar with these.

We are a school with a Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) for Physically Disabled pupils, a KS1 and KS2 satellite class from Foreland Fields School and a further SRP for pupils with Autism.

We are a part of an established Cooperative Trust (Thanet Endeavour Learning Trust), working with Bromstone Primary School, Parkside Community Primary School and St Mildred’s Primary Infant School. We work closely within our Trust to improve all aspects of our practice, including CPD and support for ECTs.

Our large site comprises of a KS2 and a KS1 building, three large playgrounds and a school field and we continue to invest heavily in our outdoor learning environment which includes an inclusive play area and sports courts.
