Advert

We are looking for a SENCO or qualified teacher who is willing to complete the National Award for SEN Coordination to join our SEND team at St James’.  You will be working closely with our Assistant Headteacher/SENCO for two days a week.  Your working days can be discussed at interview, although our preference would be for Thursdays and Fridays.

You will also work alongside class teachers to improve and develop their practice.  This role does not include a classroom based teaching commitment, although there may be occasions when you will be required to cover.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate an interest and understanding of supporting children with SEN in the classroom including the Mainstream Core Standards.  An understanding of how to implement effective SEND interventions would also be advantageous.

Skills required would include excellent organisational skills, the ability to work to tight deadlines and the ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.  Most importantly you will be dedicated to meeting the needs of every child within the school, and we would expect you to be able to evidence a passion for supporting children with SEND previously within your teaching career.

Visits to the school would be required in order to be considered for shortlisting.

We have a friendly, supportive team at St James' and we are passionate about inclusion.  Successful candidates would need to be committed to supporting the school's Christian ethos.  We look forward to welcoming you to our family.
