We require a HR and Office Apprentice to join Holcombe Grammar School. We are seeking to appoint a hardworking and reliable HR and Office Apprentice to work in our school office, reporting directly to the Headteacher’s PA. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be a good team player and enjoy working around young people. You will also offer support to our neighbouring TSAT school The Victory Academy.

You will be completing a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Business Administration.

The successful candidate will: 

  • Assisting schools with permanent, long term and temporary recruitment processes
  • Assist PA to ensuring schools follow safer recruitment procedures, including reference checking, chasing etc
  • Preparation of employee files, adhering to HR specified requirements and preparation for audits
  • Setting up interviews, providing relevant paperwork
  • Monitoring and tracking absences and issuing paperwork as required
  • Monitoring and tracking probations and issuing paperwork as required
  • Build and maintaining excellent working relationships with PAs, Office Managers, Headteachers and SLT within schools by keeping regular contract via email, telephone or in person, offering advice, solutions and information
  • Provide general administration support to the headteacher’s PA with all recruitment and onboarding matters

What you will need to succeed:

  • English and Maths GCSE’s (Grades A-C/ 9-4 required)
  • Good organisational and time management skills and the ability to cope with interruptions
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Confident and friendly telephone manner
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Confident in use of Microsoft Office packages.
