A superb opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, talented and ambitious individual to contribute significantly to the leadership and development of Science at Grange Park School.

Science is valued highly at the school, achieving the best results in all of the core subject areas.  The post holder will be committed to raising standards at all levels; delivering excellent lessons and enthusing pupils through their passion for the subject.

We are seeking a Head of Science who will lead the department, be accountable for the quality of teaching, learning and educational outcomes ensuring they are in line with the School’s strategic plan.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be highly motivated and an excellent classroom practitioner who can ensure good progress for all
  • Inspire pupils to succeed in Science
  • Have in depth subject knowledge and be able to teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics to GCSE
  • Have excellent organisational skills
  • Have a positive attitude and approach to change and development

You DO NOT need experience in an SEN setting or ASC.  If you are a great teacher with a passion then we are the school for you.  The school offers comprehensive training in ASC, exceptional CPD support and development opportunities as well as a wellbeing day to be taken in term time.  

The school offers a strong collaboration and outreach support from Grange Park School which is an autism specific provision for 8-19 year olds and has been accredited for over 10 years by the National Autistic Society (NAS). Grange Park School is currently judged as ‘Good’ by Ofsted, the school is very well placed to becoming Outstanding and is over subscribed.

We also offer more than the minimum 10% PPA. The school is part of a co-operative of 24 schools which provides greater opportunities and access to further career development.

We encourage out of the classroom learning and experiences and you will be given the freedom to develop.

All our teachers are supported by the therapy team including Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists.   Pupils will also benefit from art therapy and counselling. Most of our teachers have joined us from mainstream settings and this post is suitable for those who may wish to develop their ASC practice.

Information about the school

Our School

Grange Park School is an autism specific provision for children aged 11 to 19 located in a purpose built school in Wrotham and for children aged 8-11 located in Stansted village 3 miles from the main school site. The school also operates a post16 provision in partnership with a local college in Maidstone and Medway. All of our pupils have educational heath care plans.

All of our pupils are expected to sit GCSE’s and transition into adulthood with the skills to be successful. Class sizes at the Stansted and Wrotham sites are between 11-13 pupils with a teacher and 1-2 learning mentors. At the partnership college, learning mentors are supporting individual students or small groups of students aged 16-19 years in the college tutor groups / classrooms and out in the community.

Currently judged as “good” by Ofsted. We are committed to providing our pupils with the best possible learning opportunities and supporting them in their development.
