Boarding Houseparent and Teacher

We are seeking a pastoral leader with experience in boarding  and teaching to join our dedicated pastoral team, to provide exceptional standards of care to up to fifty students in our newest boarding house, Mandalay House. Mandalay will open in September 2022 as a boys’ boarding house, with numbers gradually increasing over the following two years until it reaches capacity in September 2024.

It is anticipated that in order to be successful in this role, the candidate will be a qualified and experienced teacher who is able to teach a fraction of a timetable in their specific field or offer an equivalent role which suits the needs of the school.

This is a residential role and a two or three bedroom flat will be provided with basic furnishings and white goods. You will be required to live in the accommodation during term time and half terms and you will have access to this property throughout the year, including school holidays. All services are provided free of charge.

Hours of work

Earlscliffe is a full boarding school and the Senior Houseparent will be required to live and sleep in the accommodation provided. When on duty your working day will start in the morning. During the daytime, you will have another position in the school - options for this will be discussed at interview depending on your previous experience and qualification. In the evening you will be on duty until 2300 when the students are settled into bed (2359 at weekends).

The senior houseparent is entitled to protected time off in the week. Your time off will be allocated to you once the position, including daytime working hours, has been agreed. During the first and last week of term, you must be resident on site at all times.
