Anyone over the age of 18 can be a School Governor. All you need to be an effective Governor is to:

  • care about improving children’s educational outcomes and personal development;
  • want to contribute to and represent the local community;
  • be willing to ask questions;
  • have an open and enquiring mind;
  • have time for the role (one evening meeting per term, plus reading/preparation, occasional training and at least one visit a year)
  • support the vision, mission and values of the Trust

We offer training, support and regular communication. Our meetings are a mix of virtual and at school, they are well organised and the Trust Governance Officer provides effective guidance and support every step of the way.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people with expertise in the following areas:

  • Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)
  • Well-being
  • Community engagement

Even if you do not fall into one of these categories, anyone interested in the role or our schools would be welcome to apply. We are looking for individuals from diverse backgrounds, educational settings and employment.

To apply: Send a brief covering email with reasons for application and any relevant skills or experience to Cheryl.southern@turnerschools.com
