Our Reception Class children need a teacher, and our teachers need a colleague!

Would you like to work in a school where the children are at the heart of learning and teaching? We have a vacancy for a full time – temporary Reception Class Teacher to cover maternity leave from January to December 2022.

We thrive on openness and honesty at Greatstone. We foster an environment that is a happy place for both children and grown-ups to work. We laugh a lot but know when to be serious. We care a lot, sometimes too much. We never do anything for the sake of ticking boxes but we always do things for the sake of the young people in our care.

Greatstone Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be subject to pre-employment checks including an enhanced DBS check, references and right to work in the UK.

If you would like to dip your toe in … yes we are by the sea too … you are warmly invited to contact the Head of School, Mrs Jaclyn Kay, to discuss this vacancy.

Information about the school

Greatstone Primary School is a welcoming and inclusive primary school located on the beautiful Romney Marsh coast in Kent, just a short walk from the beach. Our unique location provides wonderful opportunities for outdoor learning and helps to shape the rich experiences we offer our pupils. We are proud to be at the heart of the local community and work closely with families to ensure that every child feels valued, supported and inspired to succeed.

Our school is built around our core values of Dreaming, Daring and Caring. These values underpin everything we do and guide our approach to learning, behaviour and relationships. We encourage our children to dream big about their futures, dare to challenge themselves and try new things, and care for one another, their community and the wider world.

At Greatstone Primary School, we place a strong emphasis on nurture and wellbeing. We believe that children learn best when they feel safe, supported and understood. Our staff work hard to create a calm, positive and inclusive environment where every child is known as an individual. Through a nurturing approach, we support pupils to develop confidence, resilience and a love of learning.

Safeguarding is at the centre of everything we do. We are fully committed to promoting and protecting the welfare of all children and expect every member of staff to share this commitment. Our safeguarding culture ensures that pupils feel safe, listened to and supported, and that staff work collaboratively to respond quickly and effectively to any concerns.

As part of the Lightyear Federation, Greatstone Primary School benefits from strong collaboration with partner schools, shared expertise and a commitment to continuous improvement, while maintaining its own distinctive identity and community feel.
