Northfleet Nursery School is seeking to appoint an Early Years Practitioner, qualified to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Early Years and Childcare Development. The position involves supporting our teachers and Early Years Practitioners in the class room with an individual child with additional needs. This post will be for 18.5 hours a week working Monday- Friday 1pm- 4.30pm plus an additional time for staff meetings on Thursdays until 5.15pm. The position is for 1 year until 31 August 2022, term time only.

We are particularly looking for a person who is

  • a well organised practitioner with high expectations of achievement & behaviour
  • an outstanding, inspirational class practitioner
  • experienced in working with SEN(D) pupils
  • passionate about making a difference to children's lives
  • able to apply basic behavioural strategies to pupils with additional needs
  • committed to working hard and being ambitious for themselves and others
  • an enthusiastic and excellent team member
  • able to demonstrate creativity, imagination and can embrace change
  • a practitioner with previous experience in an Early Years setting with the EYFS framework
  • able to work closely with parents to establish good relationships
  • knowledgable of the High/Scope approach

Information about the school

Northfleet Nursery School has been graded Outstanding 5 consecutive times and is the only stand–alone maintained Nursery School funded by Kent County Council. We have a school PAN of 93 and take admissions from the local community in Northfleet and the surrounding area. The nursery uses the High/Scope approach which actively involves the children in exploring and learning about things that are important to children in the early years.
