The Phoenix Centre for Autism has an exciting opportunity for a future professional looking to gain experience of children with Autistic Spectrum Conditions. We would like to recruit a TA to join our team on fixed term contract until the end of the school year, during which they will receive comprehensive training, experience and support in an environment where children’s needs are the priority.  Individualised support plans are in place for each child and so the successful application will gain significant insight into managing provision for children with complicated needs. This role would suit an aspiring speech and language professional, psychologist, counsellor, medic or teacher.

The Phoenix Centre is based at Cage Green Primary school and is a specialist resource provision for 31 autistic children.  Located in North Tonbridge, the Centre is part of  a friendly primary school of 250 children.  There will be opportunities to gain experience with the mainstream setting as well.

The successful applicant would be required to work 8.30am - 3.30pm (30 minutes lunch break), 5 days a week, 38 weeks per year, fixed term to end of the academic year

The successful candidate will:

  • Have good levels of English and maths (grade c or equivalent at GCSE)
  • Have a willingness to learn new skills
  • Be able to work proactively as part of a team and demonstrate excellent flexibility
  • Have the ability not to take things personally.
  • Understand that all behaviour is communication.
