The Galaxy Trust is looking for a Speech and Language Therapist.  You will be involved in a busy, but friendly working environment within the Galaxy Trust, which consists of 4 primary academies. You will be very well supported by the current Speech and Language Therapist, and be part of a team consisting of 3 Therapy Assistants. 

The hours are 15 to 17.5 hours per week (flexible working hours), 38 weeks per year, and the salary is Kent Range 8 or Kent Range 9 (NHS Band 5 or NHS Band 6 Equivalent), depending on experience.   

You will be expected to:

  • Adhere to national and local standards and guidelines relating to Professional Practice (CQ3).
  • Practice within legal frameworks whilst considering professional and ethical principles
  • Contribute to the development of the Speech and Language Therapy Team within the Trust
  • Be responsible for assessment, differential diagnosis, formulation of treatment plans, writing assessment reports, planning and providing appropriate intervention and evaluating the treatment outcome for each individual child
  • Seek second opinions where necessary and accept support from designated colleagues
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team to support the communication and behaviour needs of pupils
  • Work in collaboration with all teaching staff and assistants
  • Work in partnership with parents
  • Support families in order to help develop communication systems and understand their child’s communication needs
  • Contribute to the school improvement plan
  • Refer pupils to other services as appropriate
  • Contribute to the school training programme
  • Share knowledge, experience and skills with staff
  • Demonstrate commitment to personal development and acquisition of further skills and knowledge
  • Maintain professional standards by attending study days, special interest groups and peer supervision in accordance with standards laid down in Communicating Quality.
