Advert

We are seeking to appoint an experienced teaching assistant to join our Early Years team, to support the reception class for two days a week (Mondays and Tuesdays – 8:45 am – 3:15 pm). The applicant should have a good understanding of child development and of how children grow and learn and be able to enthuse, engage and challenge children in their learning journey.

The successful candidate will be required to set up learning areas, lead small groups and support children with learning needs as well as occasionally being responsible for the whole class. They would also need to be flexible and enthusiastic with a positive attitude and work well as a team member.

We can offer you a school with a great ethos and family feel, a fantastic environment in which to work (we are situated in the beautiful Elham Valley), a wonderfully friendly, professional group of colleagues who always go the extra mile for their pupils, regular CPD opportunities and good resources. You will be working with a group of very supportive colleagues who work brilliantly together as a team and are passionate and enthusiastic. Our last Ofsted Inspection was in October 2019. We were judged to be Good and to have made sufficient progress to be inspected again with a potential for Outstanding.

Information about the school

We are a one-form entry, rural school, yet only a ten-minute drive from Canterbury. Our Church of England school is situated in beautiful landscaped grounds within the Elham Valley and it has its own large playing field and garden areas. The original school was built in the Victorian period and is now a listed building.

Our school is extremely well resourced with a large hall, an ICT suite and Art room. We are proud to have our own swimming pool which is in regular use and means our children benefit from exciting sport events such as triathlons.

Barham is an active, dynamic school which offers its pupils an engaging curriculum and a wide range of extra-curricular activities. We pride ourselves on having a great staff team, well-behaved children and supportive parents and governors.

Visits to the school are encouraged. Please call the school office on 01227 831312 to arrange a tour.

This school and all its personnel are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young persons. The post is subject to a DBS check and satisfactory references.
