Higham Primary School is seeking to employ a cleaner.

 The successful candidate will become part of a team responsible for cleaning all internal areas of the school to ensure they are kept in a pleasant, hygienic and safe condition. Previous experience of cleaning in a similar setting would be useful but is not essential; full training will be provided. Applicants will be expected to be able to clean to a high standard and be confident in the use of cleaning equipment. They will also need to be able to work within set routines and to form effective working relationships with their colleagues.

The post is for 12.5 hours per week Mon-Fri from 3.30 - 6.00pm. The position is for 42 weeks per annum. This includes 38 weeks term time and 4 additional weeks throughout the school holidays - dates to be agreed.

Key duties and responsibilities:

1. Undertake cleaning of allocated areas within the school in line with specified standards and as directed
2. Operate / use domestic and industrial cleaning equipment and materials, following appropriate training
3. Store allocated equipment and materials safely and securely
4. Perform duties in line with health and safety regulations (COSHH) and take action where hazards are identified, report serious hazards to line manager immediately
5. Collect and dispose of waste
6. Refill and replace soap, towels and other materials
7. Notify the Line Manager or other senior member of staff, of any Health & Safety concerns including damage to building, equipment or anything that may be dangerous to pupils and/or staff.
8. Follow safeguarding procedures as outlined by Higham School/DCPC and listed within relevant policies
