Permanent Term Time (39 weeks per year (TTO plus 5 INSET days).

The salary is £15,716 pro-rata (£18,517 FTE)

We are looking to appoint a Science Technician to join our busy Science department.  Key tasks are to prepare practical lessons and provide continued support to the Science department. Being adaptable and willing to take on all challenges is essential, as is an interest in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The ideal candidate will also be flexible, mindful of Health and Safety issues and possess excellent interpersonal skills. A good computer literacy will also be required.

DGSB is on a very exciting journey and you would be joining us at an important moment in the school's history. Having retained our "Good " OFSTED designation, without condition, in October 2019 under a new and demanding inspection framework, we are now on the cusp of moving into an entirely new school which is currently being constructed on our top field. Our new accommodation will provide us with new and exciting opportunities both within our curriculum and within the wider community. Our school motto of "Fiat Lux" - "Let there be light" - has never been more appropriate or fitting!

Applications should include a completed application form, either through Kent Teach or the one found on the DGSB website, and a covering letter if applicable. If you have any questions, please contact the Headteacher's PA, Lizzie Reynolds, via email on lreynolds@dgsb.co.uk.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students and expect all staff to share in this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undergo appropriate child protection screening including an enhanced DBS check.

Non-contributory access to the Benenden Healthcare Scheme is offered.

Information about the school

Dover Grammar School for Boys is a selective school with a school roll of 800 students. Approximately 200 of these are in the Sixth Form. Girls are admitted to the Sixth Form.

DGSB is on a very exciting journey. Having retained our "Good " OFSTED designation, without condition, in October 2019, we are working hard on every aspect of what we do as we want to become even better. We moved into a £26m new school building in July 2022 and our new accommodation provides us with modern, bright, spacious teaching rooms, and has increased opportunities for students both inside and outside of the taught curriculum.

However, our success both in school – we recorded a fantastic Progress 8 score in 2023 of +0.57 - and within the local community means that we are already looking to expand our site and develop opportunities further.

DGSB is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students and expect all staff to share in this commitment. Successful candidates will be required to undergo appropriate child protection screening including an enhanced DBS check. An ‘online presence’ check may be carried out before any appointment is confirmed. All appointments are subject to the receipt of satisfactory references.

Non-contributory access to the Benenden Healthcare Scheme is offered to successful candidates.
