An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed and enthusiastic teaching assistant to join our dynamic Keystage 2 team at Horsted School, Chatham. We are looking for someone who is passionate about working with children and dedicated to helping support them in their learning. The successful applicant will be expected to support learning in class under the direction of the class teacher; plan for, resource, deliver and monitor intervention groups; and provide cover for teaching staff should the occasion arise.

The post is term time only, 28.33 hours a week, 8:30-3:10 Monday – Friday. Pay is on NJC salary scale D2 points 4 - 11 depending on experience. There may be opportunity for the successful applicant to cover teaching staff at which point, pay will, for the cover time, move to NJC salary scale C2 points 12 - 25 pro rata. Previous experience is an advantage.

The initial contract is fixed term and will have an end date of  22 July 2022

Essential qualities & skills:

  • An individual who has the ability to enthuse and motivate children
  • A commitment to the highest standards of learning
  • Relevant and recent experience of working in a school, preferably in Key Stage 2
  • An ability to communicate, work as part of a successful team, take on board advice, use their initiative and meet deadlines
  • An individual who is organised, efficient and flexible in their approach
  • A good level of English, maths (at least NVQ level 2 or Grade C GCSE/ O' level) and a willingness to further professional development 
  • Proficiency in the use of ICT  
  • Current knowledge of SEND is desirable
