Hadlow Primary School are looking for a motivated, efficient, flexible, reliable and caring person to join our top team. We are looking for someone who will enjoy working within a vibrant school environment and who will be committed to maintaining and improving the school site. The ideal person will be warm, cheerful and willing to help in any way to support both children and staff.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the safety and security of the whole site. They will ensure that site is well loved and cared for, maintaining a safe, clean and appealing inside and outside space. The role will include:

 

Essential

  • Ensuring that the school is functional on a daily basis and responding to any day to day issues that may arise (e.g. toilets, boilers, water etc.)
  • Carrying out health and safety checks, e.g. legionella, fire alarms etc.
  • Overseeing external contractors and ensuring safe practice e.g. reading and signing the asbestos register
  • General maintenance e.g. painting and decorating, fixing, repairs and wood work etc.
  • Daily risk assessments of the school 
  • Undertaking small projects in school, such as remodelling rooms
  • Overseeing the quality of cleaning in the school
  • Keeping the school safe during all weathers e.g. sweeping, de-icing

 

Desirable

  • Driving children on the community minibus to external events
  • Working with small groups of children, e.g. wood work skills

 

Ideally, we are looking for someone that has previous experience working in a school setting, however, our main aim is to find somebody that is passionate about their role and willing to develop and learn new skills.

 

Initially we are looking for someone that will work for 15 hours a week (7.00am-10.00am) for 52 weeks a year. There is also the possibility of additional hours through a casual, zero hours’ contract, which can be discussed at the interview stage. The caretaker will also be responsible for any security call outs on the school site. This post will be paid at KR4.
