Do you have experience of working in a primary school? Do you have experience or an interest in supporting children with Speech and Language difficulties? This unique and interesting role could be right for you!

We currently have 12 children in our SRP from Foundation Stage to Year 5 with an EHCP for Speech, Language and Communication Needs. The children access highly personalised support in the SRP but are also fully included in a range of high quality learning opportunities within their mainstream classes. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Teaching Assistant to support children in our SRP.

Are you the right person to take advantage of this unique opportunity within our Speech and Language SRP team to support the development and progress of our children? Please make sure that your application reflects the range of your skills and experience, which would make you the ideal candidate to join our team.

The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver high quality personalised interventions and support on a 1:1 or small group basis to enable children to make progress against their personalised targets
  • Be willing to learn and implement strategies to support children with speech, language and communication difficulties, and help them access the curriculum across the Primary phase
  • Have a passion for making a difference and the ability to be flexible in order to meet children’s needs
  • Work in partnership with the SRP Teacher and HLTA, and our Speech and Language Therapist, to achieve high quality provision for our children.

Candidates must have experience of working in a primary school setting.

We are looking for candidates who can support the inclusive and caring ethos of our school and who have the qualifications, experience and willingness to form and sustain positive relationships with children and staff, and be flexible in their approach to meet children’s needs.

Candidates should have the minimum qualifications of 5 GCSEs at C/passes or above including English and Maths, and/ or NVQ Level 3 or above.

This is a permanent position. The hours are 8.45 to 3.00, Monday to Friday, term time only.

Information about the school

River is an inclusive school. Our children are valued as unique individuals; we celebrate diversity and respect children regardless of ability, gender, ethnicity or religion. We aim to sustain a happy, caring, supportive and positive learning community where each child can achieve success. The school is situated in a popular residential area, just outside the main town of Dover. The school is fully inclusive and attracts children from the local community. Parents and governors are very interested and supportive of the school and play an active part in all aspects of our continuing development. The school roll is approximately 400 with children organised into fourteen mixed ability classes. We also have a Specialist Resource Provision class for 12 children with speech and/or language impairments. These children spend much time each day in their mainstream class with their peers. We are fortunate to have a vibrant and energetic staff team who support each other fully, sharing ideas and best practice.

As a Federation we will offer you:

  • Enthusiastic children who are motivated to learn and proud of our schools.
