We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic person with an interest in sports.

We are a small village school looking to recruit an additional member of staff to provide engaging sports and play activities during the lunch hour. The suitable applicant will be able to work with a range of pupils from Year R up to Year 6. You will need to be aware of the latest Covid restrictions and guidance; as you would be working with individual class bubbles up to a max of 30 children.  If you think you can engage and enthuse the children to participate in physical activities, then you could be just the person we need to join our dedicated Midday Meals Supervising team.

You will be required to engage with children by providing a varied selection of sports and active play opportunities during their lunch time, ensuring their wellbeing and maintaining their safety within school guidelines and policies. Please note that this role will include periods of working outside all year round.

Whilst experience is not a necessity, a genuine interest in children and sport is.  You will need to be able to engage and understand children, to motivate and enthuse them, to want the very best for them and be prepared to put their needs first.

The ideal candidate will

  • Assist in the delivery of multi-sports and play activities during lunchtime under the direction of the PE Lead
  • Be able to use initiative to deal with any issues that arise and adapt to situations accordingly
  • Be able to plan fun and interesting physical activities during the lunch period
  • Have a keen interest in learning and a willingness to engage in training
  • A high level of motivation, enthusiasm and a positive 'can do' attitude
  • Good interpersonal skills enabling effective communication with children and colleagues
  • An awareness of how to ensure the safeguarding of our children
  • A current First Aid certificate or the willingness to train
  • A capacity to show initiative when encouraging children to engage in sports and play activities
  • A positive rapport with colleagues and children

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Become part of a team and support the PE Lead to encourage and promote sports activities
  • Train and engage in continued professional development

Informal visits are welcome, after school and socially distancing; please telephone or email office@sholdenprimary.org.uk to arrange this.
