Would you like to work in a school where behaviour is wonderful and children have a real passion for learning? We have a rare opportunity for a permenent full-time teaching assistant to join our Ryarsh family. We use the word 'rare' as we do not often have teaching assistant positions available due to the fact that not many teaching assistants leave our school. Our amazing village school has a strong community feel, providing a supportive environment for your professional development. We are looking for a new teaching assistant to join our team from April 2021.

This is a permanent contract for 31.25 hours per week in term time (8.30-3.15 daily). The vacancy is initially in Year 5, although our class-based TAs need to be able to work with any age range within the school.

We are looking for someone who is able to work with a range of adults and children to help nurture and develop the young people in our school into the kind of people that are ready to make a difference to the world around them. You will be highly skilled, reflective, enthusiastic, flexible, friendly and reliable. The ability to work well as part of a team is crucial.

At Ryarsh, relationships are at the heart of everything we do, including the relationships between adults. Our school is a place where you can feel adored and highly valued by everyone in our team. We know that it takes a community to raise a child and would love to hear about the reasons why you would like to join our Ryarsh family. So please feel free to visit us to find out more about the position and see our fantastic children and staff for yourself. To arrange a tour after school with one of our senior leaders, please contact the office team on office@ryarsh.kent.sch.uk. You can also view a video tour of the school by clicking on the following link: https://vimeo.com/467825922

Ryarsh Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Appointment to the position will be subject to an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure check.

Information about the school

At Ryarsh Primary School, we recognise that while outcomes matter, they only tell part of the story.

Schools rightly spend time analysing measurable success—assessment scores, progress, work in books and pupil voice. We are proud of the strong outcomes our children achieve. However, we believe that what truly defines a school cannot always be measured. It is found in the culture we create, the relationships we build and the way every member of our community is supported to thrive.

When you join Ryarsh Primary School, you become part of something more than a workplace—you become part of a family. We do not use that term lightly. Whilst communities can be formed through circumstance or location, we see ourselves as a family because we are bound together by strong, meaningful relationships.

Within our Ryarsh family, everyone—regardless of age or role—is a learner. We are a community where minds are nurtured and challenged, where curiosity is encouraged, and where every individual is given the opportunity to grow and flourish. Our approach is rooted in thoughtful, research-informed practice, enabling us to remain reflective, innovative and continually striving to improve.

We believe in working collaboratively and with purpose. We listen carefully, value every voice and seek to empower all stakeholders to contribute to the life of the school. Every person within our community plays a vital role in shaping what makes Ryarsh such a special place.

There is something quietly powerful about what happens here each day—a sense of belonging, care and shared purpose. It is this that truly defines Ryarsh Primary School.
