We are seeking a well-qualified applicant for a dual role position (HLTA and Extended Schools Manager) in our wonderful community school. Applicants will need to be flexible, creative and have experience in delivering high-quality lessons across a variety of national curriculum subjects. They must have high expectations, believe in the potential and well-being of our children and inspire and guide them to become the best they can be. The applicants should be driven to make our after school club first class: fun, safe, challenging, engaging and take advantage of our unique countryside setting and amazing grounds.

The HLTA position will include the following:

  • Providing focussed intervention groups for vulnerable learners
  • PPA cover (whole class teaching) across the primary phase
  • Play and engagement leader to promote and develop positive play across the school

The Extended Schools Manager will include the following:

  • Leading our after-school wrap around care provision in a supervisory capacity
  • Thematic planning and preparing a variety of activities for the children in the club
  • Lead and supervise a small team of play workers
  • Be the main contact for parents who use the facility

This is a permanent role for 30 hours per week, 11.45am to 6.15pm Monday to Friday, at Kent Range 6 (£20,585-£22,483 pro rata). 

The postholder is required to work for 38 weeks per year. In addition, they will receive a payment in respect of their pro rata entitlement to Annual Leave appropriate to their grade, Bank Holidays and the KCC concessionary day.

Information about the school

Chartham Primary is situated in a rural setting in the large village of Chartham. The school moved to two-form entry permanently in September 2020 and has a roll of approximately 350.

We have extensive playing fields and plenty of space for outdoor learning and forest school activities. We also have a school radio station.

We pride ourselves in providing an enriched curriculum for our pupils in a fully inclusive environment. Our staff team are committed to providing the best possible education for each child and working in partnership with parents. We are proud to hold the IQM award for Inclusion and had a very successful Ofsted inspection in October 2019.

Chartham Primary School and St Stephen's Infant School have shared Executive Leadership arrangements with the Executive Headteacher, School Business Manager and HR Officer working across the two schools. Building on this relationship, we converted to a Multi-Academy Trust, Inspira, on the 1st April 2021. The successful candidate will be employed by Inspira Academy Trust on the terms and conditions set out here.
