Abbey Court caters for pupils aged 3-19 with Severe Learning Difficulties, and is currently located on 2 Strood sites; Nursery & Primary (Cliffe Road) and Secondary & Further Education (Rede Court Road). Facilities include an on-site school farm.

 

The Finance Manager will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of this busy finance department. The role will include line management of a small finance team (2 colleagues) who oversee all aspects of financial support to the school, including order and invoicing, month end procedures and budget monitoring. The post holder will work closely with, and report to, the School Business Manager.

 

This position would suit somebody with a flexible and energetic approach who enjoys working as part of a committed and supportive team. Colleagues looking to step up into a managerial role and develop leadership skills, would be supported with their CPD.

 

Working hours are 37 per week, term time only + 5 Staff Development Days. Comprehensive training and induction will be provided and a recognised

financial qualification is preferred. Experience of school financial management would be beneficial but not essential.

 

Due to the conditions and complex needs of the pupils at Abbey Court School, continuity and consistency of support is paramount and therefore candidates for all positions will need to commit to the full working hours of the post.

Abbey Court Foundation Special School is maintained by Medway Local Authority for pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties(SLD) or Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties(PMLD) as their main presenting need. Additional educational needs may include visual/hearing impediment, sensory impairment, autism and or physical disability. We cater for pupils aged 3-19 years. All pupils have Educational Care Plans or Statements of Special Educational Needs.
