The right candidate will have:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

A proven record of good or outstanding teaching practice.

Proven experience of planning and delivering a creative and academically engaging curriculum which meets the needs of individual pupils whilst maintaining high standards of education throughout the school.

Strong and consistent classroom and behaviour management skills and the ability to teach and work with challenging pupils with a wide range of emotional- and attachment-needs.

Emotional resilience and be motivated by challenge.

Experience or willingness to deliver vocational subjects such as BTEC, Functional Skills or ELC.

The desire to progress professionally within a nationally expanding child focused service.

The desire to be engaged in all aspects of school life from the academic to the pastoral.

A passion to make a real difference to the education and lives of young people.

A drive to facilitate progress and growth though the building and modelling of positive and supportive relationships.

The ability to be reflective, dynamic and creative in their practice and a willing to work within the Compass Community values and ethos.

Information about the school

Compass Community School - Ferndearle is part of a therapeutic community which supports children who exhibit challenging behaviour. This independent school is supported by teaching staff who are highly trained in therapeutic practices. The school consists of a Primary and Secondary site as well as a Specialist site variating of Pupil age ranges from 5-16 years old. The three sites are staffed by teachers and teaching assistants on a ratio of 1:2 or 1:1. The schools three sites are registered for up to 37 children and currently have over 30 on roll.
