Key Stage 2 Year 6 Higher Level Teaching Assistant

We are seeking to appoint a committed, flexible and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant who will have a positive impact on children’s learning. The successful candidate will be supporting children in class, working with small to large  groups and individuals to provide additional support in flexible intervention programmes under the direction of the class teacher. There will also be times when the successful candidate will be required to teach whole class to cover teacher release or PPA. This will be principally in Year 6, however you must be prepared to work across the school supporting/working with other classes. 

We are looking for someone who has experience of working with Year 6 and a genuine interest in, and sensitivity to, children’s individual needs. You will be expected to have a positive impact on the children you work with and the school as a whole. You must have a high standard of spoken and written English and Mathematics (minimum GCSE or equivalent) and be able to communicate effectively with both children and adults. The role involves close working and communication with the Year 6 class teacher and attendance at our weekly staff meeting after school.We are looking for someone who is friendly and approachable, able to work on their own initiative, carry out some intervention planning and to manage their time effectively as well as supporting others within a team.

The post is permanent for 29.75 hours per week (8.45 to 3.30pm daily and till 4.30pm Wednesdays to attend staff meeting) at Kent Range 6 (KR6). This works out at 44.1428 weeks per year including inset days.

The successful applicants chosen for interview, need to be able to attend a zoom interview on Wednesday 2nd December. If offered the post you need to be able to start the role on Monday 4 January 2021.

Higham Primary School is a one form entry school with 209 pupils currently on roll. We are located in Higham village, between Gravesend and Rochester.
