At Langafel CE Primary we are looking for a committed SEN Teaching Assistant, with experience in Early Years and/or KS1 and 2, and in working with children with Autism, to join our team.

You will be expected to support children in SLIC @Langafel. SLIC (socialise, learn, interact, communicate) is our specialist resourced autism provision which comprises of three classrooms housed within our school and provides opportunities for pupils to be included in some mainstream lessons supported by teaching assistants.

Candidates most suited to the post will have:

  • Experience of working with children in Early Years and /or KS1 and 2
  • Experience of working with children with autism across the spectrum
  • Training for and/or experience of Letters and Sounds
  • Positive, friendly and upbeat personality
  • Minimum two years of experience working as a Teaching Assistant
  • Knowledge of child protection/safeguarding
  • The ability to be proactive and flexible
  • Professional development/interest in SEN/ASD education.

Information about the school

Langafel Church of England School is in a semi rural location in the village of Longfield and a mile from the mainline station. The school has 325 children on roll and a PAN of 45. Our school values are aspiration, team work, enjoyment and confidence. We have close links to our local church St Mary Magdalene and recognise the importance of Christian values, in particular respect, Koinonia, honesty and perseverance which were chosen by the school community. We have a number of excellent teaching resources in the school which include our heated swimming pool, gymnasium, performing arts room, food technology room and extensive grounds with woodland and pond area. The school includes SLIC@Langafel a resourced provision for 25 pupils with an EHC plan and a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Our recent Ofsted inspection took place in October 2018 where we were graded good in all areas. Our results are above national and Kent in both attainment and progress.
