Wye School SEN Student Support Assistant Post

Wye School is an oversubscribed, mainstream, non-selective school, with a comprehensive intake, across the whole ability range.  It opened in September 2013 and we now have a full intake of students from Y07 to Y13. We are situated in new purpose-built facilities which overlook an area of outstanding natural beauty.  We have had two ‘good’ Ofsted reports and two years of excellent GCSE results.

We are now seeking to appoint several SEN Student Support Assistants to start work as the new school year begins in September 2020.  This is a vital role within the school which involves working closely with students and supporting them in their learning within and outside of the classroom

To be suitable for this role you will be a positive, responsible and flexible person who is keen to join the creative, dynamic and pro-active group that currently comprise the school's inclusion team.  Wye School is a relatively small secondary school with a correspondingly small staff so it is essential that anyone appointed is adaptable and enjoys working in a supportive team environment.

What you can offer is always more important to us than your experience, so applications are welcome from anyone with a passion for learning and a genuine commitment to bringing out the best in everyone. However, as part of the inclusion team you will have the opportunity to develop your own specialism rather than just providing general classroom support.

Salary: 32.5 hours per week (08:30 – 15:30), term-time only, £12,921 pa, pro-rata to full-time equivalent salary of £17,355 pa FTE.

Applications will be considered on receipt. Suitable candidates will be interviewed on receipt of application and Wye School reserves the right to withdraw the position if an early appointment is made.

Information about the school

Wye School has a vision of excellence, a vision shared by all staff and students. Rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2018, the school is dedicated to ensuring each student gains the knowledge, confidence and skills to make a success of their future lives. The school caters for Years 7 -13 with a roll of 600, housed in a new building situated in the beautiful Kent Downs countryside, offering an outstanding environment for staff and students. The first GCSE results in 2018 were above average for Progress 8 and above national average Attainment 8, and followed by an equally strong second set of results in 2019. Students are well behaved and hard working and our staff form a friendly and committed team. As the smallest local secondary school, great pride is taken in strong relationships internally and with parents and the community.

Located within close proximity of Wye village centre, the school is at the very heart of the local community and has the potential to grow into a truly exceptional school. Wye is perfectly located to enjoy the Kent countryside, whilst still being within an hour of London thanks to HS1.
