We are seeking to appoint highly efficient, flexible, friendly and reliable Teaching Assistants to join our team at Joy Lane Primary School within the mainstream classrooms and our Specialist Resourced Provision (ASD) which forms part of our inclusive school setting.

All posts are 35 hours per week (8.30am – 4pm), term time only plus 5 staff development days (39 weeks p.a.)
Pay: Kent Range 3 (£18039, FTE)

We are looking for positive and enthusiastic people who love working with children and want to work as part of a team to ensure that all children, including those who have ASD and other diagnoses, achieve their potential in a fun, happy and safe environment.

All candidates should have a high standard of spoken and written English and Mathematics. They should be good and effective communicators with children and adults, friendly and approachable, flexible and adaptable, able to work on their own initiative and with good time management skills. A sense of humour also helps!

All candidates will have some experience and relevant qualifications/training relating to supporting learning in school e.g. NVQ level 2 or 3 in Child Care and Education/Supporting Teaching and Learning, training/experience working with children with autism. Candidates must have GCSE English and Mathematics grade C or above.

Responsibilities will include:
Supporting individuals and groups of children, with ASD and other diagnoses, in achieving lesson objectives, helping every individual to achieve their best
Providing effective feedback to children and teachers including appropriate record keeping to support learning process
To regularly evaluate children’s provision plans and to support updates to targets.
Understanding children as individuals and supporting them in overcoming any barriers to learning by supporting them knowledgeably and sensitively
Working in liaison with teachers to support the emotional, social and behavioural needs of children
Effective communication with parents/carers and other partners and professionals to achieve best possible outcomes for children
Preparation of learning resources in liaison with teachers
Assisting in the creation of effective displays
Participating in appropriate training to ensure every child is well understood and supported in reaching their full potential in all aspects of their school experience
Working in our Breakfast Club and/or After School Club if required
