Teaching Assistant required for Key Stage 1

Are you positive and enthusiastic? Do you want to work as part of a team to ensure that all children achieve their potential in a happy and safe environment? Do you enjoy opportunities to have a positive impact on children, including chances to lead the class? We are looking for an enthusiastic teaching assistant to join our team in key stage 1. This position would involve some class cover in the class you are based.  

This is a maternity cover position starting in September 2020. 

Hours of work: 25 hours per week (Tuesday to Friday: 8.30am- 3.15/30pm with 30-45 minute lunch break- exact timings to be agreed at interview). 

 

Salary: Kent Range 3 (FTE: £17,365. Pro rata'd salary £9,805.20). Any class cover paid at Kent Range 6. 

We are seeking a candidates who will:

  • Work as an effective team player;
  • Be self-motivated;
  • Confidently lead the class when required (e.g. teacher planning time); 
  • Effectively promote the vision, aims and positive ethos of the school;
  • Be innovative and enthusiastic;
  • Have high expectations of children’s achievement and a commitment to inspiring learners;
  • Support children over playtimes and for part of the lunchtime period. 

Do you have these attributes?

  • NVQ level 2 or 3 in Child Care and Education/Supporting Teaching and Learning, or a commitment to working towards this;
  • Experience in phonics and interventions for SEN children;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • A good standard of maths, English and ICT skills;
  • The ability to be flexible and adaptable;
  • Organised and able to work independently, recording children's progress where required;
  • Will initiate and participate in play activities or interventions during lunchtimes, encouraging children to engage.
