Salary:  Grade 6 Pay points 20-23 - £23,046 - £24,583

Location:  Parkview Academy, Welling

Contract type:  Full Time, Term Time Only

Parkview Academy is experiencing an exciting time as we are growing both in numbers of pupils and in our positive reputation. Our school provides continuity in learning for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans. We are a short to long term provision for 40 learners who are on the autistic spectrum or who have other special educational needs and challenging behaviour. We cater for young people aged between 7 and 19.

The overarching purpose of our provision is to work with young people so that they are able to overcome the barriers to learning that they have previously encountered. We aim to offer flexible, structured and supportive needs led approaches with the goal of working towards re-integration progression to a long term educational setting or into employment, education and training.

We are looking for a Newly Qualified Teacher who has enthusiasm and passion for working with this challenging area of special educational needs.  The post holder will actively promote the curriculum policy by teaching and assessing a range of subjects and qualifications associated to  Foundation Learning and IGCSE’s. The post holder will be required to work with both secondary and post-16 learners.

Information about the school

Parkview Academy is an Independent Special Needs School for young people aged between 6 and 19 with an Education Health Care Plan. We are Ofsted registered and cater to 50 young people who have struggled in mainstream education due to their special educational needs.

Our unique selling point is that we offer small classes or one-to-one learning where the curriculum is tailored to the needs of the individual. We also recognise the importance of building up routines, relationships, respect, and trust to achieve successful teaching and learning.

The school is based on Park View Road, opposite Welling United Football Club. We are also very close to Danson Park and Crook Log Leisure Centre which the school uses to provide a range of sports and recreation activities. The school benefits from several unique learning spaces. Downstairs we have our Life Skills Suite and sixth form area. Upstairs the school is separated into key stages along with having a drama studio, practical kitchen space, library, and media suite where learners have the opportunity to learn DJ and digital music skills as well as contribute towards the school’s radio station.

Parkview Academy ensures that all learners work towards a Foundation Learning Curriculum. This ensures that each individualised timetable includes as a minimum core skills in English, maths and ICT, Vocational Learning, and Personal and Social development.
