Advert

We are seeking to employ a temporary 0.6FTE class teacher for our happy and successful school, covering a Key Stage 2 class.  The role will last for one academic year and commence at the start of Term 1 - September 1st 2020.  The role is part-time, 3 days a week, on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

West Malling CE Primary School is flourishing and aims to maximise the potential of all the pupils in its care.  All members of our family, be they pupils or staff, are encouraged and enabled to "let their light shine".  We are an "outstanding school where shaped by Christian values, pupils can grow in confidence and character" SIAMS Inspection 2015.  Ofsted (2017) wrote "The school is a welcoming environment where staff know pupils individually. Pupils are cared for effectively. Staff work closely together to make sure that each pupil gets the support they need. As a result, pupils settle into school quickly. They behave well and enjoy their time in school."

Whilst normally, we'd warmly welcome visits to our school in order to see if this is the vacancy for you, we hope that viewing our school website will help you determine if West Malling is the school for you.  We pride ourselves on a positive, professional culture where we work supportively together to achieve the best outcomes for the children in our care.  We know that if we, as professional staff, let our light shine, then so will the light of our children.  Should you be interested in the vacancy, and have questions, please don't hesitate to contact me via the email address listed.

Full details of the interview process will be provded to successful shortlisted applicants, but candidates should expect to complete a panel interview via a video conference as well as a professional planning task.  References will also be checked ahead of any interview, so please ensure referees can be contacted via email.

You should apply for this vacancy via the application form and email this to headteacher@west-malling.kent.sch.uk by the closing date.

Information about the school

West Malling CE Primary School is a thriving, successful, one-form entry primary school set in attractive grounds on the edge of the historic town of West Malling, in one of the most beautiful parts of Kent at the edge of the North Downs. Our vision is to "let our light shine" as children and adults.

Our school is small with a caring, friendly environment, where it is possible to know all our children and their families. We have high expectations within a supportive and positive community where every child genuinely does matter and is treated as the unique individual they are. We are fortunate to be supported by the local community of West Malling and as a Church of England school, we have strong links with St Mary's Church in the village.

The school was last inspected by OFSTED in January 2023, where it was found to be "Good" in all areas. Inspectors noted that "pupils are happy and thrive in this caring school. Children develop very positive friendships with one another". It was highlighted that we "provide a well-sequenced and ambitious curriculum" and that teachers "make effective use of their time in class".

The school is "Good" under the SIAMS framework (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools, March 2022) which found "the Christian vision is woven through school life so that the community actively embrace inclusion and flourishing. As a result, pupils express their thoughts and act with certainty".

We are proud to be a member of the Tenax Schools Trust.

We are ambitious and aim to maximise the potential of all our children and staff.
