River Mill is looking to recruit a SENCo, initially for two days per week to join our new primary school in Dartford. This will become a full-time post in 2021-22.  

The salary will be Fringe MPS or UPS + SEN Point £4,359

The successful candidate will have:

  • Qualified teacher status
  • National Award for SEN Co-ordination, or a willingness to complete it within 3 years of appointment
  • Experience teaching pupils with a range of SEND needs including severe and complex needs
  • Experience of working at a whole-school level
  • Involvement in self-evaluation and development planning
  • Experience of conducting training/leading INSET
  • Line management responsibilities for individual support assistants
  • Sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
  • Understanding of what makes ‘quality first’ teaching, and of effective intervention strategies
  • Ability to plan and evaluate interventions
  • Data analysis skills, and the ability to use data to inform provision planning
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build effective working relationships

Information about the school

River Mill is a new free school that has opened in the centre of Dartford in September 2019. We are part of Connect Schools Academy Trust, which is a Multi Academy Trust (MAT) with schools in Dartford, Tonbridge and Bromley. There are 6 like-minded schools and two pre-schools within the MAT and this enables us to deliver highly effective CPD opportunities and structure for professional development and career progression.
