River Mill is looking to recruit a SENCo, initially for two days per week to join our new primary school in Dartford. This will become a full-time post in 2021-22.  

The salary will be Fringe MPS or UPS + SEN Point £4,359

The successful candidate will have:

  • Qualified teacher status
  • National Award for SEN Co-ordination, or a willingness to complete it within 3 years of appointment
  • Experience teaching pupils with a range of SEND needs including severe and complex needs
  • Experience of working at a whole-school level
  • Involvement in self-evaluation and development planning
  • Experience of conducting training/leading INSET
  • Line management responsibilities for individual support assistants
  • Sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
  • Understanding of what makes ‘quality first’ teaching, and of effective intervention strategies
  • Ability to plan and evaluate interventions
  • Data analysis skills, and the ability to use data to inform provision planning
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build effective working relationships

River Mill is a new free school that has opened in the centre of Dartford. We are part of Connect Schools Academy Trust, which is a MAT with six like-minded schools in Dartford, Tonbridge and Bromley. We will be Combining with Compass Academy Trust from September 2024. This enables us to deliver highly effective CPD opportunities and structure for professional development and career progression.
