We are looking for a fantastic 1:1 Learning Support Assistant for 5 mornings a week to work with a specific child to help them reach their full potential in all areas of school life. This support may be within class, in small groups or providing 1:1 interventions.

Whilst experience of working in a primary school environment would be an advantage, it is more desirable that you are able to be highly flexible, have initiative, be skilled in de-escalation of situations and have a desire to forge positive relationships with children, staff and parents. You will need to have an understanding that some challenging behaviours require patience, distraction and most of all an attachment with the child, as well as believing that every child has their own interests and talents.

The hours are 8:30am to 1:00pm and part of the role is to provide 30 mins lunchtime supervision. Therefore, an ability to play, have fun, and actively supervise is essential.

Salary £17365 (pro rata) 24.5 hours per week, 43 paid weeks. The contract will be temporary for one year with a possibility of it extending.

A good standard of education is expected and we welcome visits to the school should you have any questions or would just like to visit and see us in action. Please phone the school office to book on a tour.

Interviews will be held week beginning 9th March 2020.

Whitstable Junior School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection and first aid training. An enhanced Disclosure Record check will also be carried out as well as 'Right to Work" in the UK.
