Family Liaison Officer

At Whitstable Endowed School we are committed to ensuring our children and their families are cared for in many ways so that coming to school is a happy and positive experience.  To make sure that our pupils’ well-being is given the best chance at the start of every day and that the children are ready to learn, our new Family Liaison Officer is an essential cog in our school wheel.  We are therefore looking for somebody who understands about holistic well-being and has a natural ability to empathise with our children and their families and work with them to nurture and support ensuring they can thrive when coming to school.   We are looking for that special compassionate person to join our team who can also bring their own ideas and flare to the role, which will then inevitably evolve over time.  The hours will be 30 per week, in term time only.

As with other roles in the school, this post involves regular contact with children and staff and therefore the successful candidate needs to be able to relate well to children and adults alike. A sense of humour is a MUST, as well as a ‘common-sense’ approach to the job and the ability to show initiative and adapt to any situation that may arise.  Ideally, in applying for this post you will have:

  • Empathetic to social, emotional & physical needs of all children
  • Experience of working alongside families
  • High standards of work ethic and self-motivation
  • Good literacy and mathematical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening and organisational skills
  • The ability to form positive relationships with children and adults
  • High standards of personal presentation, punctuality, professional standards & team work
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Have commitment to raising standards and achievement for all pupils.

You will be expected to undertake all necessary training related to this role; as and when requested by the Headteacher.

Whitstable & Seasalter Endowed Church of England (Aided) Junior School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  This is underpinned by robust processes and procedures that seek to maximise opportunity, minimise risk and continuously promote a culture of safeguarding amongst our workforce.  All successful applicants will be required to complete an enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service and check against the ISA Barred List for children. Appointed staff are also expected to follow a robust Code of Conduct in accordance with our church school’s Christian Values.

Information about the school

We are a Church of England Aided Junior school, situated in the heart of Whitstable.
