TEACHER OF CHEMISTRY - Full Time

We are seeking a dynamic, innovative and inspirational teacher of Chemistry to join our highly successful department from September 2020. This role would be suitable for an experienced teacher or an NQT. The ability to teach up to and including A Level is essential.

Simon Langton Girls’ Grammar is a highly respected school that places students’ academic success on a par with their wellbeing, creating a learning community where every individual matters. With single sex teaching 11-16, and a mixed sex sixth form, chemistry is one of our most popular A Level choices, with many students leaving us to study degrees in such areas as medicine, biomedical sciences and pharmacology as well as chemistry itself. Very many chemistry students undertake science activities as part of the Langton Extended Curriculum, where they have the opportunity to engage in research activities, often linked to external agencies and employers.

The successful candidate will have excellent subject knowledge and be passionate about chemistry, with the drive to maintain superb academic results in addition to contributing towards a thriving extra-curricular programme. Experience of school or industry based research would be an advantage, but more importantly is a desire to inspire students in the world of chemistry that happens both inside and outside of the classroom!

At GCSE the majority of students study Triple Science, with smaller numbers studying Trilogy. The successful candidate will be required to teach some KS3 general science. The sciences are very popular at our school, and we currently have 14 A Level teaching groups.

This is an exciting time in the long history of the school, with us moving into a new, multi-million pound building in early 2021. Staff retention is extremely high, and opportunities to work here do not come up very regularly.

The successful candidate will benefit from the support of a large friendly and professional team, which includes ten teachers and three technicians.

Should you have any questions please contact our H.R. Manager, Mrs Elaine Wall by email - ewall@langton.kent.sch.uk
