The Viking Academy Trust is seeking to appoint a Clerk to the Trust to manage and support the work of the Trust Board and Local Governors. The Clerk plays an essential part in the continuing development of our highly effective and successful Board of Governors to ensure our Viking schools continue to flourish under strong leadership.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide advice to the members of Viking governance on constitutional and procedural governance matters.
  • Provide proactive and effective administrative support to the Trust Board and its committees.
  • Ensure Viking Governance is properly constituted.
  • Manage information effectively in accordance with legal requirements.

The position is part time, averaging 10 hours per week primarily in term time (approximately 380 hours per academic year). Flexibility is required as hours are dependent on the cycle of meetings. The annual Viking Governance calendar allows for pre-planning and timetabling of meetings.

The Viking Academy Trust is looking for an extremely organised, effective and flexible Clerk. You will be an individual who prides themselves on attention to detail with proven administrative experience. You will be able to work on your own initiative, manage deadlines and prepare accurate minutes. The successful applicant will have a genuine interest in school governance, keeping abreast with current educational developments and legislation affecting schools. Previous administrative or clerking experience in the education sector will be a distinct advantage. The ability to remain impartial, comply with data protection legislation and maintain confidentiality is essential.  Candidates must be familiar with Microsoft Office and have access to a computer and the internet. Support and training for the role are provided through the Trust and National Governance Association (NGA).

Salary: Kent Range 7 (£22,182 pro rata)

Actual salary for hours worked is £4,960.35 per annum.
