As a Director of Learning you will:

• Be the subject lead for your area, providing the best quality of education in the faculty, delivering high standards in order to ensure students achieve the best possible outcomes.

• Develop a faculty curriculum which is planned and sequenced so that new knowledge and skills build upon what has been taught before and move towards clearly defined end points.

• Manage performance of the team including carrying out appraisals, providing professional development opportunities, and holding staff to account to their performance.

• Take a lead role to improve the effectiveness of assessment practice in the faculty, analysing statistical information to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning.

Who are we looking for:

• An experienced leader and an outstanding practitioner with a passion for continual professional development.

• An individual with subject knowledge throughout both KS3 and KS4 with up to date knowledge of curriculum and assessment, and how to develop highly effective schemes of work.

• A person with a can-do attitude and a positive approach. You will have the ability to lead by example, motivating others along the way whilst delegating effectively in order to support and develop the team.

• Someone with the experience, knowledge and an understanding of inclusion in a whole school setting

The Director of Learning will also be expected to fulfil the professional responsibilities of a teacher, as set out in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document.

The Archbishops School is a mixed ability school for students aged 11-19. We are a small, but successful and very popular Church of England Foundation School in the beautiful cathedral city of Canterbury. The Archbishop's School is rated GOOD by Ofsted.
