Keen to join a school that focuses only on the joy of teaching and learning? That strips away unnecessary paperwork? That avoids any knee-jerk initiatives or tick-box exercises that get in the way of good teaching?  Ofsted liked what they saw and judged us resoundingly 'Good' in all areas in our November 2017 inspection.

We are looking for an excellent Year 1 teacher to join our friendly and supportive team for a maternity cover.

This position will suit a curious, energetic person who loves to teach and has the highest expectation of what each child can achieve. In return, we offer a supportive and collaborative environment in which to continue to learn and develop a strong teaching practice.  NQTs are welcome to apply.

If this sounds interesting to you, we encourage applicants to visit our buzzy village school to see what we have to offer.

Information about the school

Wateringbury Church of England Primary School (Voluntary Aided) is situated in the Medway Valley between Tonbridge and Maidstone. On the edge of the village it overlooks fields and the river valley on one side. It is banked on the other by a modern residential development. From our site adjoining the river and railway, our school has been serving the children of the village community and surrounding villages for more than 40 years. It is a vibrant and friendly school which is well supported by the local community.

Everything we do at Wateringbury is underpinned by our Christian values of Love, Respect, Forgiveness, Resilience, Courage and Joy. We enjoy strong links with St John the Baptist Church in Wateringbury and encourage children to take part in important community events such as Remembrance and St George’s Day as well as fundraising activities for local and international projects. Our developing curriculum is enhanced by a range of specialist-led clubs including, gymnastics, strings and drama as well as inspirational trips around the county to bring children’s learning to life.

In the summer of 2021 we expanded our Year 5 and Year 6 classrooms to give the children more space to learn and room to grow. We have also invested in the refurbishment of our library, which sits at the heart of our school, and created a safe space (Nurture Camp). We are fortunate to have wonderful school grounds surrounded by trees. There are dedicated playgrounds for KS1 and KS2, a large sports field, pond, wildlife area, container gardens and a large wooden gazebo for further outdoor learning.

We are part of a project working with the charity Nurture UK and our nurturing ethos is a huge part of who we are.
