Required for Term 3 (January 6th onwards) or as soon after, due to temporary promotions within the school.

 

Portal House School is a successful KCC Special School for secondary aged pupils who experience Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs

 

We are looking for a qualified, skilled and enthusiastic individual to teach small age group classes ICT to GCSE level.

 

  • You will need to have excellent I.T. knowledge, skills and understanding

 

  • Possess superb behaviour management skills.

 

  • Want to teach and develop students who sometimes find learning in the classroom difficult.

 

  • Be familiar with the national curriculum for Programming and ICT GCSE syllabus and have a proven record of enabling students to achieve their target grades.

 

  • Have high expectations and standards.

Information about the school

All 80 students on roll have an EHC plan with SEMH or ASD as their main SEN need. Most have additional associated diagnosed and undiagnosed needs. All have a broadly average cognitive profile with behaviour presenting as the biggest barrier to accessing education.

It is essential that have a good understanding of Special Educational Needs associated with student who present with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs and or Autism and experience of working successfully with other agencies to help these children achieve positive outcomes. A high proportion of our children are eligible for pupil premium.
