North West Kent Alternative Provision Service is looking to appoint an exceptional teacher with knowledge and understanding of delivering engaging, destination focussed subjects. We are seeking to employ teachers who have the passion to make a difference to the education of young people in the North of Kent.

New premises and the further broadening of our curriculum has resulted in new teaching vacancies.

The ideal candidates will have experience working as a teacher in either mainstream school, SEN or Alternative Curriculum provisions. Applicants from a Primary School teaching background will be equally considered.

At the forefront of our criteria are the ability to be positive, a can-do attitude, a resilient personality and a creative and flexible approach to teaching that builds success through challenge, personalisation and innovation.

NWKAPS offers excellent professional development opportunities therefore we welcome the opportunity to upskill the right candidates in areas which require further development to create excellent teaching practitioners for our SEMH school.

NWKAPS has been on an exciting journey since inspection in September 2017 and now boasts a staff team of dedicated leaders and teaching professionals who have the skill-set and enthusiasm to ensure that the quality of education provision offered by the services reaches excellence.

We now boast a breadth of teaching expertise which includes subject specialists and those with the ability to teach with a discreet focus upon well-being and cognitive and social/emotional development. Part of our crucial role is to ensure that our students develop in to confident young people, master strategies and improve their emotional well-being before continuing to their chosen destination.

We pride ourselves in offering bespoke curriculum pathways for students who have disengaged from mainstream education and are selected as more suitable for destination based learning in small class sizes.

Information about the school

Background to Alternative Learning Trust - Kent & Medway Hub

Alternative Learning Trust (ALT) is a multi-academy trust (MAT) for Pupil Referral Units (PRUs), Alternative Provisions (APs), and specialist settings. We are a collaborative trust and believe the most sustainable developments and improvements come from working together. We are driven to transform the educational experiences of all children and young people, offering them opportunities to reach sustainable outcomes for the rest of their lives. These values are accompanied by excellent pedagogy, vibrant curriculum models, and responsible governance.

The Alternative Learning Trust became a multi-academy trust (MAT company number 11788031) in June 2019. Our Sheppey School, opening in September, will become our fifth school. There are currently three schools within the Trust, The Limes College, North West Kent Alternative Provision Service (NWKAPS) and Will Adams Academy and a further joining in May. The Trust has been established to work with Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) and alternative providers who support vulnerable students to access and engage with education. Many of our students have special educational needs and some have been excluded from mainstream education.

As a Trust we have the following core set of values for our staff and the families we support: • the need for people to flourish in all areas of their lives; • we are stronger through a sense of community; • social justice is vital.
