We are seeking to appoint a committed, experienced and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team who will have a positive impact on children’s learning.

The successful candidate will be working principally within the Key Stage 2 department supporting the children’s learning but should also be prepared to work across the school.

A requirement of this post is for the successful candidate to cover PPA at least one day a week. The curriculum areas to be taught will be identified through planning meetings with the PPA and Teaching staff.

Desirable qualifications, experience and qualities required by the successful applicant:

  • Level 3 certificate for Teaching Assistants qualification or higher
  • Experience in covering a whole class for PPA.
  • Experience working in schools – ideally in all primary phases - experience in supporting children in Year 6 through SATs would be an advantage
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills, GCSE grade C+ or equivalent
  • Ability to work successfully with pupils with a range of needs
  • Adaptable and confident to support individuals, small groups of pupils
  • Capable and confident in delivering school interventions
  • Enjoys working with children and is able to establish excellent relationships
  • Excellent team member
  • Hardworking and is able to work on their own initiative and manage time
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good ICT skills
  • Committed to the school, has positive views and is willing to contribute to school events

The post is for 5 days a week 8:45 am – 3:15 pm, term time only. Salary in accordance with Kent Pay Scheme Grade KS3.

St Matthew's High Brooms Church of England Primary School, is a two-form entry Church of England primary school in a semi-urban area of Tunbridge Wells and Southborough. We have an extensive site and large outdoor areas.

At present there are approximately 360 children on roll. The school serves the community of High Brooms, St John's and Southborough.
