Working as part of our Pastoral Support Team under the direction of the Head of School, the FLO will be the first point of contact for parents/carers and staff on a daily basis. They will work with all stakeholders of the school and outside agencies to improve outcomes for our pupils. A primary function is to support vulnerable children to overcome barriers to learning.

The successful candidate will:

  • Uphold Safeguarding systems and procedures within Kingsnorth and Brenzett Schools.
  • Have excellent communication and inter-personal skills
  • Have proven experience and ability to establish and foster strong relationships with parents/carers
  • Engage parents in preventative and early intervention activities to support learning
  • Have experience of and be prepared to organise and lead workshops
  • To work closely with staff and parents to promote good relationships between home and school, addressing common barriers such as attendance, punctuality, poor behaviour, school induction and to be a part of the year R home visits later in the academic year if/when required.
  • Have knowledge of the admissions and attendance process and related systems (eg SIMS, My Concern)
  • Be aware of the impact of their role on the children’s learning
  • To help support across the school with child behaviour using appropriate systems (eg Jigsaw, Restorative Justice)
  • To promote parent and community engagement including working with other agencies including school nursing, education welfare services, early help, outreach etc)
  • A willingness to engage in and support our school’s coaching programme

The post is to start 6th January 2020 and will be full time  (37 hours per week over five days), term time and INSET days only (44 weeks per year). Hours during the week may vary weekly depending on the needs of the school and families. It is paid on Kent Range 5 (Full Time Equivalent - pro rata to term time) depending on experience and qualifications.

Kingsnorth CE Primary School is an exciting and vibrant place to learn and develop. We were judged as outstanding in our SIAMS. In our most recent OFSTED as a ‘Good School’.

We are also one of 34 English Hub school’s across the country. We are an active and leading school within Aquila (The Diocese of Canterbury Academies Trust - www.diocant-aquila.org). We are situated next to the church in the heart of Kingsnorth village, south of Ashford. We are a large 2 form entry school with 420 children on roll. We have strong links with the local Church and Community. Our supportive Governing Body and active PFA play key roles in school life.
