Due to a temporary redeployment of one of our existing Forest School leaders, we are looking for someone passionate, creative, resilient and pro-active to join our provision for our on-site 1.25 acre Forest School. Candidates must be trained to at least FSA level 2 standard.

Pupils at Bysing Wood from Year 1 to 6 have access to half day Forest School sessions. Half of a class have a session every two weeks in every term of the year. Our Forest School is mainly mixed woodland with a smaller open 'meadow' area. We have a large range of flora and fauna species which we have been identifying more and more of over the last year and a half.

As part of a safer recruitment process, this position will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

The position offered is four days a week in term time, temporary in the first instance until July 2020, but could become permanent. The hours required each day will be negotiated dependent on the number of sessions running each day, but are likely to be 8.30am to 3.30pm.

Information about the school

Bysing Wood is a friendly Primary School located on the western outskirts of Faversham. The school is growing in popularity, building on a successful Ofsted and the fantastic range of facilities offered alongside a great atmosphere. Currently the school has 240 children on roll, organised into 10 classes from Reception to Year 6. A building project to become 2 form entry over the next few years has been completed and provides the base for our Key Stage 2 classes. September 2018 saw the start of a Forest School provision on site and we opened a pre-school in January 2020, catering for 2,3 and 4 year olds. In March 2020, we were a founder member of EKC Schools Trust, which provides access to the EKC Group colleges' resources to further enrich our curriculum. At Bysing Wood Primary School we value each child as an individual and encourage them to achieve their personal best in a happy, secure, stimulating environment. The displays in school are a major strength and help evidence the rich, relevant, termly topic-based curriculum (with associated visitors and trips) on offer. Our staff are committed to developing the whole child, encouraging learning through knowledge, skills and practical activities. We also support them to become tolerant, respectful and caring individuals who enjoy their work and play and are proud of their achievements. The proportion of pupils eligible for free school meals is high, pointing to the social and economic challenges facing a proportion of our families, although the profile is changing over time as the housing developments in Faversham come on stream.
