Information about the school

Queenborough School & Nursery is a two-form entry primary school and maintained nursery on the Isle of Sheppey, proudly serving the local communities of Queenborough and Rushenden. We also have a purpose-built baby unit and a toddler room allowing us to accommodate children from the ages of 0 to 11.

Our school is a special place and we have an exceptionally positive school ethos. Our children's behaviour is exemplary and positivity, respect and friendship pervade the school. As a result, staff turnover is typically very low and our staff remain at the school for significant lengths of time. All of the school's senior leadership team, including the headteacher, began their teaching careers at the school and over 80% of our current teaching staff have been with the school since the start of their careers.

We are all incredibly proud of our school and passionate about the work we do. We never stand still in the pursuit of excellence and we have exceptionally high expectations of all members of our community; we know there are no limits to what can be achieved through hard work and self-belief, as can be seen in the outcomes achieved each year by our children.

Our aim is to immerse our children in a world-class curriculum which not only provides them with a broad and rich spectrum of academic knowledge, but also equips them with the social, moral, spiritual and cultural development required to be confident and fully participative members of modern Britain.

The school was first recognised as Outstanding by Ofsted in 2016 and we are incredibly proud to have retained this at our most recent inspection in July 2023. The school is an ArtsMark Gold school, as well as holding the SMSC Mark, Music Mark, School Games Mark Gold Level and Primary Science Quality Mark at Gilt level.

'The Queenborough values of ‘Belong, Expect, Achieve, Thrive’ reverberate strongly throughout this highly ambitious and exceptional school. They are deeply embedded in the school’s culture and lived up to by pupils. Pupils love school, feel very safe and thoroughly enjoy learning. They are extremely proud of their school, their achievements and those of others. There is a demonstrable sense of community and belonging.' (Ofsted, July 2023)

In March 2020, the school academised to become a founding member of EKC Schools Trust which has continued to add value to all aspects of school life while allowing us to retain our unique identity.
