Kemsing is a thriving village primary school and a super place to work, where relationships, at all levels, are paramount.  We have a great staff team and our pupils really engage in their learning and care deeply about THEIR school.

We are seeking to appoint an SEN teaching assistant to work in KS2 in support of a child with additional needs in cognition and learning and in social and emotional support.  This temporary post is attached to the High Needs Funding that we receive for this pupil.  It is initially for 25 hours per week (with some flexibility around the afternoon hours), but could rise in future, depending on the needs of the pupil.

We welcome applications from candidates with relevant experience (paid or voluntary) of working with children.

We can offer you the support of experienced, enthusiastic staff; considerate and respectful pupils and opportunities for ongoing professional development.

Kemsing Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Successful applicants will be required to undertake a criminal record check via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

We reserve the right to interview and offer the job to an exceptionally strong candidate prior to the closing date.

We welcome you to come and visit us and find out more about our school and the role in particular.  Please ring the school office to arrange a visit.

Information about the school

Kemsing Primary is a delightful village school in a very beautiful location set at the foot of the North Downs, yet only 10 minutes from the thriving commuter town of Sevenoaks. The school was established in 1885 although our current buildings are considerably newer!

We are a one form entry school with a current roll of 184 pupils.

We are a central member of our local community and have strong links with our local parish church where we hold Easter, Harvest and Christmas services for the children and their families. Local businesses and community groups support us through the activities of our hard-working PTA, who run a large programme of events each year from the popular village summer fete, through to quizzes and comedy nights. Profits support school projects like the redevelopment of our wonderful swimming pool facilities.

Our dedicated governing body further supports the school with its diverse skill set and has been actively involved over the past year in redesigning our eco wildlife pond and garden and creating a fabulous school library to support our children’s learning. At Kemsing Primary School we encourage parents to be fully involved in their children's education. Our philosophy is one of partnership, where parents and the school work closely together for the benefit of the child.

We treat every child as an individual. We have high expectations that all of our children will excel and reach their full potential. The school prides itself on its welcoming and happy atmosphere and our emphasis is on excellence and enjoyment for all. Our highly committed and talented staff members create a supportive yet challenging environment for our young learners.
