Vacancy River Primary School

KS2 Part Time Teaching Assistant

Are you passionate about supporting children, recognising individual qualities and strengths, and aspiring to attain excellence in learning support? We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to join our committed, enthusiastic and skilled TA team. The role involves using your strengths and initiative to provide support to meet children’s needs and raise attainment. This contract is temporary to support the learning needs of a pupil in Year 5, and is likely to be for the rest of this academic year in the first instance, when funding and pupil needs will be reviewed.

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, patient and motivated individual, with experience of supporting children in Key Stage 2. Are you the right person to take advantage of this opportunity? Please make sure that your application reflects the full range of skills and experience which you would bring to the post, which would make you the ideal candidate.

The successful candidate will:

  • Enable children to access learning experiences in their mainstream classroom by supporting them when they experience barriers to learning and by developing resilience and positive engagement
  • Have a secure knowledge and understanding of the curriculum in Key Stage 2
  • Have a positive outlook; be patient, with a sense of optimism and the ability to be flexible in order to meet children’s needs
  • Deliver high quality personalised support on a 1:1 or small group basis to enable children to develop strategies to help them to manage their emotions and responses
  • Work in partnership with the teaching team in Year 5 to ensure consistent approaches and strategies for identified children
  • Have 5 GCSE grades C/4 or above, including English and Maths; or Cache Diploma in Childcare, Learning and Development Level 4, or minimum qualification of NVQ L3.
  • Have experience of working with children in a primary school; including those with additional needs.

Every child deserves a champion, an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.

Salary: KR3 Hours per week: 17.5 (11.30am to 3.00pm Monday to Friday)
