Littlebourne School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join, and make a commitment to, our friendly and supportive team. We are looking for either; a current TA with experience in learning support and the ability to contribute to our school community, or from graduates who may be considering a career in education and wish to gain valuable classroom experience.

Part of the TA role includes supervision of the playground at break and lunchtimes, we also encourage TAs to run an after- school activity once a week.

We would prefer to appoint a full-time candidate, but applications for part-time will also be considered (mornings). Applications will be responded to as they are received.

The post will mainly involve working to support our year 5 and 6 children, therefore a good standard of English and Maths is required from the successful candidate (at least to GCSE level). The successful applicant will be sensitive to, and aware of, children's varying needs and approaches to learning, as well as having a flexible and adaptable approach; especially necessary in a small school community.

The successful candidate will: 

  • Have relevant qualifications and experience of supporting individuals and small groups of children in accessing learning
  • Be able to liaise with the class teacher, SENCO and leadership team;  providing feedback and keeping records of progress and behaviour
  • Support the social, emotional, behavioural and medical needs of pupils
  • Communicate clearly with parents
  • Prepare resources and undertake administrative tasks
  • Display children's work creatively
  • Become familiar with, and implement school policies and approaches to areas such behaviour, safeguarding and teaching and learning.

 Working hours are from 8.30 – 3.30pm each day paid on Kent Range Grade 3 – 5 depending on experience of the successful candidate.  

This position is ideally to start in September 2019, applications from candidates who may need to delay the start date due to current commitments are welcome.

Littlebourne is a small village school situated about 4 miles east of Canterbury. The school is attractively situated in large grounds opposite the village church providing a wealth of opportunities for incorporating the environment into learning, sport and other outdoor activities.
