We have a young person joining us soon that needs 1:1 support and unlimited compassion to flourish. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to support this young person across the whole curriculum in their first year at school. You will be instrumental in their success and work with the EYFS team to ensure that they settle in to their new class here at St. Marys.

 

You will have:

 

  • A minimum of a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • A range of recent and relevant experience of working successfully with children in EYFS an/ or KS1.
  • A competent understanding of child development.
  • An understanding of special educational needs and how this can affect a young person.
  • Knowledge of or a willingness to learn and practice Makaton.
  • An understanding of strategies to support early communication skills.
  • An ability to provide consistent and structured support and to manage behaviour calmly and consistently.
  • A willingness to support with toilet training and nappy changing.
  • A sense of humour, a commitment to teamwork and a proactive nature.
  • A creative flair with an ability to inspire a young mind.

This role needs an immediate start and so short listing will be completed on Thursday 15th. This role is a fixed term contract for a 1:1 support role based on a 30-hour contract, term time only.

 

Salary based on experience on the Kent range 2-4.
