The achievements of our pupils are extraordinary and will give you a sense of achievement when they make progress, however small. In-house training will be given on all aspects of the job, although a level of knowledge or understanding is an advantage. Teaching Assistants support pupils aged from nursery through to Year 6. Behavioural needs vary from child to child so you will need to be both confident and resilient in working with challenging behaviour.

This post is considered to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers. Shenstone School is a primary aged special school for pupils with severe, and/ or profound and multiple learning difficulties. Shenstone School is one school based across two sites which are 5 miles apart - the Sidcup site age ranges are from nursery to Year 2 and the Crayford site is Year 2 – Year 6. The pupils at Shenstone School are amazing superstars who work very hard to achieve small and big steps of progress over time. They are supported by a dedicated staff team and we stand by our motto of “together we engage, thrive and achieve”. Shenstone School was inspected in October 2019 and the outcome is that we continue to be a ‘good’ school, where the children are happy is learning is made fun.
